a lot of these "twin" cars are joint projects between different manufacturers. some examples being:

mitsubishi with chrysler (diamond star motors):
- mitsubishi eclipse (1990-1999 models), eagle talon, & plymouth laser
- mitsubishi 3000gt & dodge stealth
- mitsubishi starion & chrysler conquest

another example,

honda with isuzu
- isuzu rodeo & honda passport
- isuzu trooper & acura slx

even high end companies that mix their cars with different parts off of different cars, such as the jaguar x-type's chassis is based off of ford's mondeo and also chrysler's 300 chassis is based off of mercedes benz's e-class.

lots of mix-ups here, some successful, and some not so successful lol (the rodeo/passport being one of them -- as a honda employee, WHAT a junkbox haha)

isuzu might be owned by honda so that would make sence with the honda and isuzu look alikes

Actually, Honda and Isuzu have nothing to do with each other's cars

GM and Isuzu used to have some sort of alliance to make the H-Series trucks, which is rebadged Kodiaks/Topkicks, but they ended the agreement along with the trucks last year and also the alliance too, but Toyota has gained interest and decided to buy a small portion of Isuzu not too long ago
