I interviewed Vovillia in January 2010 and thought I'd invite him along to do an up to date interview this January too, to see what he done over the Christmas season, his thoughts on the Sims 3 and of the future of this site. Here is the interview, enjoy.

Hi Vovillia, how are you?

Hello Hannibal, I'm good, thank you

What did you do over the festive season?

Not as much as I originally planned, caught a nasty cold and my sinuses didn't enjoy the colder weather, but on the days where I didn't feel that bad, I help my parents with some things that they wanted to do, mostly just planning events, and also I was working on a few things for the last X-Mas

Are you at University/College or do you work full/part time?

I've been unemployed for a long time, there is almost no jobs available where I live, mostly under-qualified for the ones that are available, as for college, I'm not planning on going anytime soon, it's mostly about the amount of money that is needed that I'm probably never going to get

Do you drive/ and if so what car do you drive?

To be honest, I'm a terrible driver, I have the same temporary license for almost 6 years and I currently don't have a car

How many vehicles in total have you made for the Sims 2?

I don't know about all the remeshes I've done on the side over the years, but just counting the cars I converted as a whole, I'm sitting at 811 cars at this moment, will be 813 at the end of the day

Is there anyone in particular who inspired you to create vehicles for the Sims 2?

There's a couple people who inspired me since way back in the Old S2CS days, such as TreZillah, Fox Alfa, Maximum_spider, and Fresh-Prince, when I first started to converted cars, I had a lot of help from F-P and Tre and even Max has given me a few pointers

What's the most desired vehicle you have wanted to do but have not yet done?

Good question, there is a few cars that I really like and would love to convert a model of that car into the sims 2 game, such as the Lister Storm, BMW M8, 1973 Skyline GT-R, 1978 Camaro Z/28, a Mazda RX-5, the first generation Toyota Celica, Nissan 240RS, and a few others

How often do you actually play the Sims 2?

Mostly an hour or two after I finish testing, but my game has a lot of custom content and I don't think it's Windows 7 friendly, it likes to crash randomly when I roam about from lot to lot

Your site has overtaken the popularity of the highly acclaimed "Sims2carsource" in it's day,
how do you feel about that?

It's a great feeling, but sometimes as I think about it, it isn't the same as things have been a few years ago, when sims 2 was still the game to be played by almost everyone, I always thought of the sims 2 game was the game to play if you were too young to play any of the gta games, but either way, there is a difference with things were back with the Old Carsource

How do you decide which vehicles to do next?

Mostly through requests, but sadly, I have a lot of limitations with the models that are available on the internet that I can use, so from the requests, the ones that can be done are the ones that will be done

What are you thoughts on the Sims 3, and do you own a copy?

The Sims 3 is a fun game (though EA made having a car much more boring) and I have all the EPs and SPs for it, I'm actually going to get the new SP, Outdoor Living Stuff, that comes out next month

Fresh Prince also makes amazing cars for both Sims 2 & 3, what are your thought on his work and do both
of you keep in touch?

Fresh-Price does an amazing job with his model conversions, he also has much less limitations with the models he uses, he uses a lot of models that I can't use, mostly the models that are in different formats, the high polygon models, I believe that F-P has a magical power to lower the polygons of the model without crippling it's detail, and with the mapping, somehow F-P finds the neatest images to map with, even with models that has no physical mapping at all, and we do keep on contact a lot, many people may think that we're rivals or something like that, but we are not, we constantly help each other with either getting a model or needing help with some special animations for a car

Last year I asked you this question and here it is with your answer,

"What’s your plans for the site when the Sims3 is released?"

"My site will support both games, and I will make cars for both games, but after a while,
I will only make cars for Sims3 , unless requested to be in the Sims 2 also."

Now the Sims 3 has been out for a while ,What are your future plans for the site
and will it involve the Sims 3 vehicles at some stage?

I haven't changed much since then, for the sims 3, I almost constantly play around with the tools for sims 3 and see what I can do, but there's still a lot of limitations with the tools, but it's going through what the sims 2 SimPE has gone through, The SimPE tool for sims 2 is very advance and took a ton of time for the makers of it to get as far as the tool as gone, which is why most of my model conversion in sims 2 looks so good, and I can't get my cars to look anything remotely close like that in sims 3 yet, so only time will tell

Vovillia, it was great to catch up with you again after a long and creative year,
may you continue to provide quality downloads for the players of the Sims 2 and thank you
once again for your time.

Thank you Hannibal, I know that 2011 is going to be a great year!

I have already approached 2 other legendary creators for the Sims 2, awaiting their replies.

You should also do interviews of random site members to find out how they found the site etc.

Great interview!
And good announcement!
