Cloned from Vovillia's '59 Impala. I couldn't find any evidence that the Impala was used as an emergency vehicle, but plenty of examples of Biscayne emergency vehicles, so the trim package has been changed accordingly.

If there are any issues, be sure to post them here, and I'll see about fixing them.

Thanks again to everyone who let me ask the many questions that I needed to ask to get this done.

These look awesome! Perfect for my vintage world. Now I'll have to look into replacing the npc police car.

Hey - I just realized that I refer to the car as an Impala in the catalog description instead of as a Biscayne. I fixed it, and re-uploaded it, so you can re-download, or change it yourself, or if you don't really care you can just leave it. If you do re-download it, don't forget to delete the first version of the mesh part from your downloads folder.

BTW - if you know how to replace the default vehicles, or if you figure it out, I sure would love to see a tutorial on how to do that. Oz gave me some tips (that I have yet to try out), but a tutorial would be nice.

Thanx everyone for the kudos.

Love it!

I really hope you keep on creating, specially squad cars, because I really like it.

well, I was able to replace the mesh, but the door animation doesn't work and this car has two textures, not one like the maxis car, I don't know how to fix that.

Zowie - I wish I had some time to try to figure this out, but finals are approaching, so I can't do much right now. I really wanna replace my defaults too. What did you do to get it into the game as a default replacement?

I never replace the original Maxis cars, I just buy the car for that sim on certain jobs, so I buy the police cars for my sims that work in the police force for them to drive to work.

I cloned the car in simpe (it's in the "unknown" category) and unchecked "set custom group ID", then when the window with the file names poped up I deleted the "-psychosim[2135219]" part so there's only "vehiclepolice" (don't forget to click update before proceeding).
After that you have a overwriting clone where you can edit the mesh and stuff.

I bet it'll work if I replace every part on a one to one basis. I'll try that when I'm done with finals, and if it works, I'll make two lights on top (one for the blue, and one for the red).

If that's how it works though, I dunno how to do the taxi and helecopters. The taxi has a sliding side door, and I dunno what 50's vehicle I'd replace that with.

I wouldn't mind if the animation was a bit wonky if I could have a checker cab. But when cloning you can also pull the animations, there's a checkbox for that. Maybe you can exchange the animations with that of a normal car as well? I have no experience with that, though.

I'm gonna start a thread on this topic in the "Questions/Requests" section so that anyone interested in figuring this out can follow along or post helpful hints or whatever.

EDIT: D'oh!! I already had a thread on this over there.
